What we do
Wilmington Water Heat works on one category of appliance: residential water heaters. Gas storage tanks, electric storage tanks and wall-hung tankless units — diagnosis, repair, and replacement when a tank has reached the end of its service life.
That focus is deliberate. Water heater faults overlap in ways that are easy to misread. A tripped high-limit, a dripping relief valve and a pilot that will not hold each report a condition rather than name a broken part, and the component that failed is often not the component that caused the failure. Working on the same category of equipment every day is what makes those distinctions quick to draw.
How a call usually goes
- You describe the symptom. What the heater is doing, roughly how old it is, and whether it runs on gas or electricity. That alone narrows most faults considerably.
- The fault is measured, not guessed. Elements and thermostats are tested with power isolated. Thermocouples are read under load. Gas valves are checked against their fault code. Draft is verified at the hood.
- You are told what it is before anything is fitted. Including when the answer is that a repair is not the sensible spend on a tank of that age.
A visit that concludes “this is repairable” and a visit that concludes “this tank has gone” are both legitimate outcomes. The one thing that does not help anybody is fitting parts to a unit that was never going to be worth them.
